Variation of Total Mercury Concentrations in Different Tissues of Three Neotropical Caimans: Implications for Minimally Invasive Biomonitoring

چکیده
Mercury (Hg) is a global environmental contaminant that affects ecosystems. It known to biomagnify through food webs and bioaccumulate especially in the tissues of top predators. Large-scale comparisons between taxa geographic areas are needed reveal critical trends related Hg contamination its deleterious effects on wildlife. Yet, large variety (keratinized tissues, internal organs, blood) as well variability units used express concentrations (either wet- or dry-tissue weight) limits straightforward studies. In present study, we assessed moisture content could influence total (THg) measured several (claws, scutes, blood, red blood cells) three caiman species. We evaluated from different provide information THg various matrices. Our results show difference intra- interspecific variations content, with highest values found keratinized (scute layers claws). For species, positive relationships body size concentration tissues. relationship was species-dependent. emphasize need for standardized evaluation trace elements quantification based dry weight analytical procedures. addition, use both offers possibility quantify time scales exposure by non-lethal sampling.

Minimally invasive total splenectomy in dogs: A clinical report
Cases of minimally-invasive surgery are gaining acceptance among surgeons and animal owners. One type of minimally-invasive surgery is total splenectomy, which is indicated for splenic tumors, trauma, torsions, and for dogs that require blood transfusion. To assess the safety of the technique, experimental laparoscopic splenectomies were performed in dogs for the first time in Iran. Three adult...

Mercury Accumulation in Body Tissues of Yellowfin Seabream (Acanthopagrus Latus) under Sublethal Concentrations
In the present study, Mercury (Hg) accumulation in different tissues of Yellowfin seabream under different Hg concentrations in the medium were investigated. For this, PurPuse 45 fish specimen of the same size (19.2±1.8cm and 134.0±36.1 g) were caught from Musa Estuary, in northwest of the Persian Gulf and transferred to the laboratory. Fish were divided into five different groups of 9 fish ...
متن کاملdevelopment of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles
a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...
